Chattanoogans Respond To Hobby Lobby Decision

CHATTANOOGA,TN, (WDEF)-A victory for religious freedom or a step backwards for women’s rights?
 The supreme court decision was welcomed by Hobby Lobby’s owners after a fiery court case.

"Its been a long journey but an important one for our family and guided in all areas of life in faith and conscience , we are truly thankful for a decision that allowed us to continue operating our family business according to our principles"

However a Chattanooga writer and theologian feels the supreme court decision which is made up predominately by men was a wrong one.

"Women know what it means to have access to inexpensive birth control and contraception, women know what it means to have that in their life, men don’t same sort of sense of biology"

Hobby Lobby customers are divided.

"This is really kind of sad, we have come a long way, this is not something that should be decided in the court"

"This is still America, we are a diverse country, we have the right to believe whatever we want to believe"

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann believes this proves that American’s do not support Barack Obama.

"Horrible dictates of Obamacare, this was a ruling involving contraception the justices the majority have got it right, this is just an example of a failed Obamacare provision, I think the whole thing is wrong"

One of Chattanooga’s Hobby Lobby’s will be losing some customers.

"So I more than likely will not shop there"

USA Today confirmed Monday that the Hobby Lobby decision was the most discussed social media topic across the nation.

Senator Ted Cruz released a statement saying Americans can’t be forced to surrender their religious freedoms just by opening a business.
