Chattanooga man accused of brutal rape; Held on $600,000 bond

CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee(WDEF) – What was reportedly thought to be a good gesture turned into a bloody nightmare for one woman who was viciously raped inside a Chattanooga home.Willie James Bradley, 53, of Chattanooga is the accused rapist. He is being held on a $600,000 bond for two counts of aggravated rape and one count of false imprisonment.

According to the arrest affidavit, police were called to the 2000 block of Milne Street where they found a woman with sever lacerations and contusions on her face and head.

The woman told offices she was raped by a man known as “Doc.”

According to police, the home where the rape occurred was vacant. When they entered the residence, they reportedly found large amounts of blood on the floor and walls.

While at the hospital, the woman told police that she was with a friend in a pickup truck and the two stopped at the Kanku’s store on the 3400 block of Wilcox Blvd.  While at the store, her friend picked up a man he only knew as “Doc.”

While riding in the truck, the woman said she needed to go to the bathroom and “Doc” told her that he knew a place where she could go. They reportedly pulled over at a home on the 2000 block of Milne Street where “Doc” escorted her inside.

Once inside, the woman told police that “Doc” became extremely violent by pulling her hair and beating her before forcing her to perform oral sex on him. The woman said she fought back but the attacker became even more violent by repeatedly punching her in the face and head while yelling at her.

At one point, the woman managed to get away but as she ran to the front door, her attacker grabbed her and beat her again before raping her.

Once he was finished, the man reportedly left the house.

While at Erlanger hospital talking to a detective, the woman described her attacker as having “one eye that looked the wrong way.”

Based on that description, the detective showed the woman an eight person photo lineup.

The woman picked out her attacker who was identified as Willie James Bradley.

As of Friday morning, there was no word on the woman’s condition and no word on whether her friend who was in the pickup knew the woman was being attacked.

WDEF did a criminal background check on Bradley and it turned up prior arrest and convictions for similar charges.

In 1999, Bradley was convicted of aggravated rape and sentenced to six years in prison.

In 2007, he plead guilty to being in violation of the sex offender registry and served less than behind bars.

In, 2009, Bradley was sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of aggravated assault.

The District Attorney’s Office won’t comment so WDEF spoke to Partnership CEO Sandra Hollett about the impact of repeat sex offenders. The Partnership works rap victims.

“We’re always disappointed when the system doesn’t appear to work. One in six women in our community will be victims of sexual assault. That’s based on statistics.” Hollett said.

Those statistics support recent TBI statistics that suggest the number of reported rape cases have increased through the state.

Hollett encourages any woman who has been a victim of sexual assault to immediately call the rape hotline. That number is 423-755-2700.
