‘He was the perfect person’: Fiancée of UTC student killed remembers his life

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Sara Baluch described Mohammad Sharifi as her soulmate.

The two both went to UTC and took trips together.

Last December, they got engaged.

“Our love was so pure, nothing had harmed it, nothing, and that’s why it felt like it was too good to be true,” Baluch said. “He was the perfect person and I know that sounds impossible, but, no, he really was perfect.”

Last week, the unthinkable happened.

Sharifi was shot.

Police found him in the parking lot of River City North Apartments.

He was taken to the hospital.

That’s where a nurse told Baluch what happened.

“I didn’t believe her and I told her no, there’s no way he’s dead because he is my rock, my strength my everything,” Baluch said.

Police arrested Dmarcus White.

According an affidavit, Sharifi was trying to sell his Xbox One to White.

Baluch said she wants to talk to the man accused of killing her loved one.

“My number one goal is to tell him who Mohammad was, what he’s done, what he wanted to do, what he wanted to be, I want to let him know, because I don’t want Mohammad to just be a name to him. I want him to be a person,” she said.

Baluch wants to know if White feels bad, but she said she’s not angry.

“It’s like no one is born and wants to kill someone, no one, no one wants to take a person’s life away unless things have happened to them, things have affected them in their life. I’m not saying what he did was okay at all. What I’m saying is that Dmarcus was also someone that was hurt,” Baluch said.

Kind, patient, caring, and confident are just a few words Baluch used to describe Sharifi.

And, she hopes that’s what people will remember.

“I want them to remember just positivity, to constantly love, and don’t be selfish, always think about other people first, because that is what he always did and always be kind. Kind to everyone,” Baluch said.
