City Council Approves 2014-2015 Budget

The Chattanooga city council passed the 2014 -2015 fiscal year budget Tuesday night.
It puts a large focus on tackling crime in the city.
It also funds $3-million in road repairs, and adds a new program called Baby College.
That program offers prenatal care, early learning, and childhood development in areas where there are high numbers of at-risk children.
Councilman Ken Smith was glad to see corrections in pay discrepancies among Chattanooga Police Officers.
"I wanna make sure to say thank you not just to getting a budget passed to correct these discrepancies but also to keepthe door open to continue to work on any issues they may face," said Smith.
All of this was done with no tax hike.
The fiscal year begins July first.
