Vols RB Jalen Hurd Out For Texas A&M Game as He Did Not Travel to College Station

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Tennessee running back Jalen Hurd has joined the list of Volunteers who won’t be available Saturday at No. 8 Texas A&M.

Tennessee athletic department spokesman Ryan Robinson said Friday that Hurd didn’t travel with the team to Texas A&M (5-0, 3-0 SEC) and will not be playing “due to an undisclosed injury.”

Hurd has a team-high 407 yards rushing on 101 carries. Hurd’s absence will create a larger role for running back Alvin Kamara, who has run for 165 yards on 38 attempts this season.

The ninth-ranked Volunteers (5-0, 2-0) also won’t have linebackers Darrin Kirkland Jr. and Jalen Reeves-Maybin and cornerback Cam Sutton available for Saturday’s game. Kirkland has a high ankle sprain, Reeves-Maybin has a shoulder injury and Sutton has a fractured ankle.
