Hixson Eagle Scout Candidate Hosts American Flag Retirement Ceremony
Hixson, Tenn. (WDEF) – A Hixson teenager is using his love for the American flag to complete his latest Boy Scout project.
Eagle Scout candidate Daniel Casagrande hosted an American Flag Retirement Ceremony at the Houston Museum of Decorative Arts this evening.
He says not many people know the proper way to dispose of an old flag, and he wanted to show others how to do it.
He also had outdoor displays on flag etiquette and history.
“The flag of our country has a lot of meanings to a lot of different people, but above all else, it’s kind’ve our protector in a way. It’s the embodiment of our ideals of our country. And with any national symbol, in this case, especially our flag, this is not just to us, this is to every other country in the world. Hey, this is America. Something that’s that important should be retired respectfully and given a chance to rest after its time is done,” says Daniel Casagrande.
Casagrande hopes to become an Eagle Scout by November.
