Victim Identified in Deadly McMinn County Crash

MCMINN COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) — News 12 has new information on a deadly crash in McMinn County Saturday afternoon.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol’s preliminary report, it happened around 12:30 p.m. at Mile Marker 47.

The report says Allen Harris was driving a tractor trailer on I-75 North, when he went off the right side of the road, and struck a pickup truck parked on the shoulder. It was hauling a U-Haul trailer.

According to the report, the impact separated the pickup truck from its U-Haul trailer.

The semi drove the pickup truck into the median, and both vehicles caught fire.

The driver of the pickup truck, 30-year-old John Zullinger of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, was killed.

Harris was airlifted to the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville with serious injuries.

His current condition is unknown at this time.

Charges are pending, and troopers are still investigating the crash.
