Steven Kelley Sentenced for Murder of Chattanooga Minister

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn.(WDEF)- One of the two people accused in the November 2014 slaying of a Chattanooga associate minister, will be going to prison for 18 years.

A man charged with murdering a church pastor was sentenced to 18 years in prison Monday morning after pleading guilty to second degree murder charges in Hamilton County Criminal Court.

27-year-old Steven Kelley pleaded guilty this morning to second degree murder.

He and his girlfriend, 27 year old Jordan Craig were both charged in the death of Kenneth Johnson.

Kelly told police he met with Johnson on Blackford Street to buy drugs, but drugs were found at the scene.

Police maintain Kelly and Craig planned to rob him.

Johnson, a former convict, had spent the last few years as a street preacher.

Jordan Craig is scheduled for trial on October 26th.
