Hamilton Commission approves Harrison landfill proposal

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Despite protests last week, Hamilton Co. Commission approves a construction and demolition materials landfill in Birchwood/Harrison.

The vote was 7-2 for the proposal.

The plan is to put the landfill at a property in the 9000 block Bryan Road, which is across the ridge from the old Birchwood landfill.

The group “Keep Harrison Beautiful” argued that the new landfill could leach material into the Harrison area and the Tennessee River.
