NAACP Image Awards Banquet

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The NAACP held its annual image awards banquet tonight.

The organization gave out awards to people who impacted our community.

Those awards included a Humanitarian Award, Citizen of the Year Award, and the President’s Award, just to name a few.

There were about nine total awards presented.

The ceremony is named after Ruby Harley who is a renowned civil rights activist

She is also known as the “Queen of Civil Rights”.

Not to mention the guest speaker that was present also gave a more historical perspective of the award banquet, Dr. Horace Taylor, who is the first black graduate of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.
