Notre Dame’s Cameron Wynn Making a Splash With Big Splash Plays
Chattanooga-(WDEF) Coaches love to talk about getting big plays or splash plays on offense.
Well no one makes a bigger splash than Notre Dame’s Cameron Wynn.
The Vols commit is a serious threat to score every time he gets the ball.
Notre Dame coach Charles Fant says Cameron Wynn has scored in every game this season, and Wynn’s touchdowns aren’t cheap.
Said Fant:”Running wise I think he’s averaging 11 yards a carry. I think every time he catches a football, it’s like 15 yards, so that’s pretty fantastic.”
Reporter:”What is it that you think you have that allows you to do this?”
Said Wynn:”I don’t get tired easy. I don’t get tired easy. I keep going. I keep going.”
Said Fant:”That’s the major part about guys like Cameron. You don’t have to be a 4.3 or 4.4 type of a kid that you’ve got to get to your full speed as fast as you possibly can after you make the cut, so that’s where he excels.”
Said Wynn:”When I run the ball, if I see a crease, I will take it. If you just give me some space, I will take it.”
Said Fant:”For kids like Cameron, it’s about space and not about plays. Just give the kid space, and he becomes special.”
Since it’s about space with Wynn, imagine what he can do on kickoffs.
The Irish only wish he got more chances.
Said Fant:”For those that don’t put it in there (end zone), they kick it somewhere else from him. He has had only two opportunities. One was a 20 yard gain and the other was a 99 yard touchdown. And so we put him back there to get better for field position. They better have a really good kicker let’s just say.”
Wynn is only a junior, so he’s got one more year to put up big plays for Notre Dame.
Said Fant:”He knows he’s not doing this by himself. I think that’s the huge key as each year he’s with us, he gets that much more humble about what he’s doing.”
Said Wynn:”I just try to find my way to the end zone. That’s all I worry about. Take care of my team and try to get a win.”
