Mobile counterfeit operation bust on Sand Mountain

SECTION, Alabama (WDEF) – Jackson County Sheriff’s deputies charge a couple with making and passing counterfeit bills on Sand Mountain.

The case started on Friday afternoon, when a business in Section reported someone trying to pass a bogus bill to police.

Section Police Chief Pete Ledwell stopped a suspect vehicle with 24 year old Connor Glass and 19 year old Karla Kugler inside.

They are both from Cullman, Alabama.

A search of the vehicle turned up a counterfeiting printer, paper, ink and a computer.

Officers say they also found $1,800 in counterfeits 20 and 100 dollar bills on Glass, and some meth.

Both face charges of possession of fake bills and the equipment to make them.
