Cleveland Appoints New Intertim Judge
George McCoin was appointed Monday morning.
He takes the place of Judge Bill Moss.
Moss died last month from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.
He served the city for more than 30 years.
McCoin is currently an attorney serving in Cleveland.
He tells us the new appointment comes as a surprise.
McCoin adds, "It’s certainly an unfortunate situation. I would have preferred not to have been appointed. I prefer Judge Moss. He served the city and public for many years and I believe regardless of the results, whenever he heard a case, the people having been before him, felt like they received a fair hearing."
McCoin will serve as judge through September 4th.
The city is currently taking applications from those who want to fill the job permanently.
