Women’s March on Chattanooga Held Saturday
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Residents from across the Tennessee Valley are coming together for a Women’s March on Chattanooga.
Thousands gathered at Coolidge Park this afternoon to start and finish a two-mile march here.
A viewer sent us these pictures of the protesters crossing the Market Street Bridge.
Before they hit the streets, they listened to various speakers.
Both men and women were armed with signs, concerned about various issues impacting women and minorities.
They say their biggest concern is lack of equality, and they’re worried about the future of our country.
“I’m here because I have two children that I want to grow up in a better world. I have a daughter and a son, and all my friends have kids, and many of my friends have grand-kids, and I think that we need a better world for now,” says Hallie McFadden.
“I think it’s important that the world knows that there are people out here, and it makes me feel better when I’m here with all these people, that I’m not alone. I’m not sitting in my house just worrying about it,” says Lynn Hochman.
Protesters say they hope Americans will learn to get along with each other – even if they have different views.
