Water company repairing main break on Broad Street

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Crews from Tennessee American Water company have been working on a water main break near the 1200 block of Broad Street since midnight.

A spokeswoman for the company says they anticipate the break will be repaired by sometime tomorrow morning, but Broad street will remain blocked for some time after that.

Daphne Kirksey with Tennessee American Water says the lanes will be closed for awhile.

“We can’t fit the flowable fill in while it’s really cold, and also the asphalt producer won’t be able to make asphalt if it’s really cold, so any repair on the road could be delayed.”

The frigid weather has taken a toll on water pipes and main lines.

Two other breaks were reported earlier this week in Soddy Daisy .
