Volunteers pack meals to help fight hunger around the world

Soddy-Daisy, Tenn. (WDEF) — Several hundred local volunteers are working to help fight chronic hunger around the world.

“Feed My Starving Children” is an international non-profit which distributes meals to 70 countries worldwide.

Local church youth groups, school clubs and the American Heritage Girls Troop gathered at Stuart Heights Baptist Church today to pack meals for the non-profit.

Volunteers spent all day filling 100,000 meals.

Each one is packed with staples like rice, soy, vitamins and vegetables.

“It makes you feel really good knowing you helped somebody even though you’ve never met them,” says Rylee Holloway, one of the volunteers.

The church is still in need of monetary donations.
