Dairy Queen has a new chicken meal for us.

They are introducing a Honey BBQ Glazed Chicken Strip Basket.

“Our chicken strips are not ordinary,” said Barry Westrum, Executive Vice President of Marketing for American Dairy Queen Corporation (ADQ). “We hear over and over that we have the best chicken strips anywhere. Now we’ve added this incredible new flavor profile that is sure to be a huge hit with our fans. Nothing we do is ordinary.”

“The inspiration for our new Honey BBQ Glazed Chicken Strips is actually dads,” adds Westrum. “We are solving that lifestyle challenge for dads. He used to commit to an afternoon with his friends watching games at their favorite wing joint. Now he can bring the entire family to DQ and for an even better wing flavor without the wing joint commitment.”

One battered fish coating isn’t enough anymore for Long John Silver’s.

For the first time in their 47 year history, they will not have two coatings.

The classic battered Alaskan whitefish.

And now a new beer battered Alaskan Cod.

“It is the ‘Battle of the Batters’ and we expect this to be a nail-biter,” said Marilyn Nicholson, Vice President of Marketing. “We believe in healthy competition and in this case we are stepping into the ring with two heavyweights. Our customers really love our Classic Batter flavor, but I think the Beer Battered Alaskan Cod will give the Classic a run for its money.”

A Seattle-based pizza chain is moving into the southeast.

MOD Pizza or MOD has signed a franchise agreement with Southern Pie, which runs Bojangles restaurants in Georgia and Alabama.

They will open their first location in the two states later this year.

MOD was founded in 2008 in Seattle by a couple that created Seattle Coffee Company and Carluccio’s in the United Kingdom.

MOD focuses on their love of Italian street style pizza.

They have 195 locations in 20 states, but none in Tennessee.

Can Hooters survive without the waitresses?

The company is about to find out.

They are testing a new, smaller fast-casual restaurant called “Hoots” in Chicago.

The “Hooters Joint” will still serve wings, fries and crab legs.

But customers will order at a counter for either dine in or take out.

And there will be a bar area.

“It’s sort of a flex model,” Keifer said. “But it’ll be predominantly fast casual. We’re anxious to see how that works.”

But do people go to Hooters for the food or the scenery?

They’re about to find out.
