Suspect shot by deputies listed in stable condition

EAST BRAINERD, Tennessee (WDEF) – Tennessee Bureau of Investigations agents have been called in to handle an officer involved shooting this morning in Hamilton County.

Deputies were called to a home on Fuller Road on a burglary call around 6:40 AM.

But when they got there, they heard shots being fired inside the home.

Deputies then say that 34 year old Matthew Paupp came out of the home and pointed the gun at them.

One of the deputies shot him.

Paupp was transported to the hospital where he is reported in stable condition.

None of the officers were hurt.

TBI officials tell us the home is owned by the suspect’s father.

At the request of local authorities, the TBI will take over the investigation.

Just last June, Paupp was arrested for improper use of 911, obstruction of legal process and resisting arrest.
