Live Fire Training Concludes for Fire Academy 2017

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Two weeks of intense fire training for Fire Academy 2017 came to a close today on Hancock Road in Chattanooga. The two houses donated by Hamilton County government were used over and over again the past two weeks, providing hands-on training in fire suppression and search and rescue.

It’s been exhausting work for everyone involved, but the 35 recruits got a lot out of that training. As is customary on our live burns, we closed it off by taking a class photo, which involves posing for the photo while the house burns behind them.

The recruits will now move on to other disciplines in the fire service, including vehicle extrication and hazardous materials. If they make through that, they will graduate on April 13, 2017.
