Hot Shooting Fourth Quarter Lifts Haywood Over Brainerd in the State Tournament

Murfreesboro, TN-(WDEF) Haywood saved their best for last as they got red hot in the fourth quarter to roll past Brainerd 82-72 in
the state quarterfinals.
The Panthers led after each of the first three quarters, but they couldn’t keep up with the Tomcats in the final period.
Brainerd led 56-52 going into the final frame before getting out-scored 30-16 in the fourth quarter.
The Tomcats shot 83-percent in that decisive period on 10 of 12 shooting from the floor.
They were also 9 of 11 from the foul line in the final quarter.
Dedric Boyd led the Tomcasts with a game high 33 points, while teammate Tristan Jarrett added 23.
Brainerd also had an effective one-two punch in forward Jesse Walker and guard Kentrell Evans.
Evans scored 21 and Walker added 20.
Brainerd finishes their 2017 campaign with a 28-6 record.
