Dade County Schools drop quarantines

TRENTON, Georgia (WDEF) – Another local school system has made changes to its policy for students who have been exposed to COVID-19.

Starting yesterday, students at Dade County Schools are no longer required to quarantine after a COVID exposure.

The change comes after the school system found that none of the children sent home due to an exposure this semester developed symptoms.

Superintendent Josh Ingle says “Since we returned in January, we have reported no close contact clusters, meaning the kids that we sent home did not develop symptoms based on an exposure, specifically at school.”

A similar policy was put in place at Hamilton County Schools three months ago.

One month ago, Walker County Schools did the same.

While students who are exposed to COVID-19 can stay in class, those who develop symptoms will be required to isolate.
