Bethlehem Center Celebrates Black History, Raises Money for Youth

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – February is Black history Month, and Chattanooga’s Bethlehem Center celebrated the month today by partnering with Lil’ Mama’s Chicago Style Hoagie restaurant.

“We’re so excited to be here, today, as we honor Black history month, as we honor the contributions that have been made. Lil’ Mama’s being so generous with their support of the Bethlehem Center, the Bethlehem Center being supporting South Chattanooga for over 100 years,” said Josh Singh, Director of Strategy and Growth at the Bethlehem Center.

The Bethlehem Center, which is an Alton Park-Based community and social services center, put on the event not just as a celebration, but also as a fundraiser.

“Lil Mama’s is going to be giving a portion of all proceeds to the Bethlehem Center to support our programming, which reaches children and families in Chattanooga, especially in South Chattanooga.”

Fifteen percent of all proceeds will go to the Bethlehem Leadership Unit, a program for high school students designed to help them develop interpersonal skills and leadership abilities.

The Bethlehem Leadership Unit also provides students with tutoring, community engagement experiences, and additional opportunities for personal growth.

“We’re excited to be here and happy for this partnership, and looking forward to more partnerships as this year rolls on.”

Those who did not attend but still wish to donate can do so on the Bethlehem Center’s website.
