Burglaries Reported Near Wallace A. Smith Elementay School

OOLTEWAH, TN (WDEF) – Residents near Wallace A. Smith Elementary School report several houses being broken into, and items stolen from vehicles during that same time period.

Hamilton County Sheriff Jim Hammond weighs in on the issue.

He says, "We live in a community that’s no different than any other community. You have those who are trying to get something for nothing. You have to always be vigilant and on guard. We can never hire enough police to give absolute protection. People have got to take some responsibility for their own protection."

Sheriff Hammond encourages every community to start a Neighborhood Watch if they haven’t done so already.
