Yodeling kid brings out large crowd at local Walmart
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – It’s 11-year-old Mason Ramsey with his cowboy boots, hat, and guitar that had a huge crowd packed in next to the Walmart on Gunbarrel Road.
“Well it’s so nice to be here,” Ramsey said.
Ramsey stopped in Chattanooga for a pop up concert.
Emily Flippo was one of hundreds of people that attended the event.
“I just love his voice,” Flippo said.
Ramsey gained popularity after he was captured yodeling in an Illinois Walmart.
He became known as the “Walmart yodeling kid.”
But the rising star quickly took off and has since even been able to play at the Grand Ole Opry and signed a deal with Atlantic Records.
“It’s just so interesting how someone, like, as young as 11 years old can become as big as this and get 2 million followers in a month. It’s just really crazy and cool,” Julia Murphy said.
Soddy Daisy resident Alisa Price brought her four young relatives to watch Ramsey preform.
Price mentioned that she’s thankful that he decided to make a stop for a free concert.
“We’re excited to be here,” Price said.
Ramsey sang a few Hank Williams songs, and preformed his recently released single, “Famous.”
His next stop will be in Birmingham, AL.
