Volunteers needed in ‘largest search’ for missing child

DICKSON, Tenn. (AP) – The Dickson County Sheriff’s Office says up to 50 volunteers are needed to lead the largest search yet for the body of a missing 5-year-old in Tennessee.

The Tennessean reports Joe Clyde Daniels was reported missing April 4. Days later, the child’s father, 28-year-old Joseph Ray Daniels, was charged with criminal homicide. The boy’s mother, 27-year-old Krystal Nicole Daniels, was arrested Monday and charged with aggravated child neglect or endangerment.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation says Joseph Daniels killed the boy, who was autistic and non-verbal, hid the body and reported him missing. The child’s body still hasn’t been found.

The sheriff’s office is asking for volunteers who have emergency services backgrounds and be capable of leading larger groups of volunteers over mixed terrain.
