National Medal of Honor Day
CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee (WDEF)- National Medal of Honor Day began as the sun rose at the National Cemetery in Chattanooga.
Charles H. Coolidge National Medal of Honor Heritage Center offered two for one ticket deals and used this day to pay special tribute to those who earned the highest honor.
National Medal of Honor Day is every March 25th and recognizes all Medal of Honor recipients.
The Medal of Honor is the highest military award for valor in the United States and was created in 1861.
“The medal of honor recipients are celebrated year-round but we don’t necessarily put a lens on them every day of the year. They’ve either sacrificed their lives in the line of duty for their brothers or they have acted gallantly and valorous in combat. So we wanna take this one day to really celebrate these people and acknowledge their service in the station when they’ve gone above and beyond the call of duty,” said Saunders
The Heritage Center has several events coming up over the next month. The dates and speakers can be found on their website.
