Vols Roll Past Mocs 45-10
Despite a season high 5 sacks, the Chattanooga Mocs could not overcome three turnovers and a shaky offensive performance. UTC lost to Tennessee 45-10 at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville.
UTC only trailed 10-0 after the first quarter. After Jacob Huesman threw an interception, Tennessee quickly extended their lead to 17-0 after a Justin Worley touchdown run.
The Mocs forced a turnover of their own to get their first points of the game. Keionta Davis’ sacked and striped Worley of the ball, and Josh Freeman pounced on it on the Vols 27.
UTC settled for a 27-yard Henrique Ribeiro field goal to close the margin to 17-3.
That’s as close as the Mocs would get. Just before the half, Worley found Johnathon Johnson on a 25 yard scoring strike to make it 24-3 at the half.
The Mocs finally found the end zone late in the game on a 14 yard TD run. By then the Vols were in cruise control en route to a 45-10 win.
Chattanooga’s defense was a big bright spot despite the lopsided score. Josh Freeman tallied two of the Mocs season high 5 sacks. Derrick Lott, Keointa Davis and Davis Tull also downed the quarterback as the defense recorded nine tackles for loss total. Freshman Trevor Wright tied for game-high honors with nine stops.
