Pilot was giving rides to kids at a birthday party
CALHOUN, Georgia (WDEF) – Calhoun Police are releasing new information on Wednesday about the helicopter crash Tuesday afternoon.
They say the flight was for a child’s birthday party.
The police report says the pilot told them he landed in a grassy area between Aaron’s and El Nopal restaurant and then tried to take off again.
But a gust of wind caused the helicopter to shift, his propeller hit some power lines, which sent the chopper spinning out of control.
The report says it hit the Aaron’s building.
Security camera video shows the helicopter never got more than 20-30 feet off the ground.
Witnesses said they helped two adults and two children out of the helicopter.
None of them were seriously injured.
