Chattanooga teacher will bring letters of support to families at Texas border
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — A Central High School teacher is traveling to the Texas border to support those who are legally seeking asylum.
On Saturday, Sally White and her friend will travel to Texas.
They raised more than $2,000 to go buy supplies for immigrants at the border who are seeking asylum.
White gathered some students to write letters in Spanish to give the families hope.
Students say they wanted to be apart of this to show support for families being separated.
“So we are just going to provide them some essentials and just show them a little bit of kindness,” White said.
“It is just devastating because those kids came here so they can get away from what is breaking their families apart over there,” said Jimena Villanueva, a student.
