Adam Cordell The Cancer Survivor Who Chose Teaching and Coaching At Dalton Middle School To Inspire The Next Generation

DALTON, GA, (WDEF)-"I had life flash in front of my eyes, I wasn’t sure if I was going to see my 21st birthday"

Adam "Wingo" Cordell ended up battling a rare form of chest cancer and underwent 60 rounds of chemo not sure if he would live or die.
      After years of suffering and surviving he chose to dedicate his life to teaching, inspiring and coaching children.

"On not being a victim of what your situation is, not just my situation, i’ve seen and graduated high school and college with people who weren’t supposed to graduate high school but they also graduated college"

Cordell now teaches at Dalton Middle School and only found out he had cancer when it came up on a drugs test while captaining his college football team 5 years ago.

Staff members added that Adam’s unique challenges and life experiences so young allow him to inspire and bring hope to students both in the classroom and on the playing field.

Dalton Middle Principal, Brian Suits, "A lot of kids who are underestimated at every turn and yet I think the most important job I have is to find the best people to work with them and we have assembled a staff here who are literally work miracles every day, with Adam he’s not just working miracles, he is a miracle">

Cordell’s story has now been made into a short film called "Wingo, The Story of Adam Cordell".
   
A devout Christian, Cordell says faith and family have been a major support in helping him battle cancer and give back to his community.

Adam Cordell is planning on becoming a motivational speaker and has already given talks to families and children at some North Georgia churches.
