Early Voting

Kerry Steelman, Hamilton County Election Commission Administrator of Elections said, "We encourage everyone to get out and vote."

Representatives with the Hamilton County Election Commission say that early voting began slower than expected this year. However an increase in voters the last couple of days have really turned things around. Steelman said, "If voting continues at the same pace that we have seen for the last two days, I really expect to see, at the end of early voting tomorrow, to have early voting numbers very close to the mid term numbers in 2010." Steelman says that everyone should exercise their constitutional right to vote. Steelman said, "Men and women throughout history have bled and died and given their lives for the freedoms that we have for this country and one of those freedoms that we have is the right to vote."

Steelman says he believes that people have been educating themselves on the new amendments. One of the talking points with this ballot is whether or not people will vote for wine sales in grocery stores. Representatives with Riverside Wine and Spirits says regardless of the outcome next week…they aren’t concerned. Jamie Campbell, Riverside Wine and Spirits said, "No, I don’t think so. I think with customer loyalty and the variety of wines that we have, we aren’t too worried about it."

Early voting ends Thursday evening. The election happens November 4th.
