Chamber of Commerce backs the Wheland Project for Chattanooga
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce is endorsing the plan to build a new stadium in the South Broad District.
Chamber C-E-O Christy Gillenwater referred to the potential new stadium as a “gleaming gateway into Chattanooga.
She said she is elated about the economic benefits the project could bring to the South Broad District and Chattanooga as a whole.
“We’ve been overwhelmed just with the key stakeholders we’ve asked in the last couple of days to sign in
on supporting the South Broad Redevelopment Project, and we’ve had over 155 in just a really quick time say yes.”
Gillenwater said a poll taken last year showed that seventy-eight percent of Chattanooga Chamber members were in favor of efforts to keep the Lookouts in Chattanooga.
According to Gillenwater, if the project meets its goal of one billion dollars in investment, the development could create a completely new experience for residents of Hamilton County.
