Update on church vandalism case
Garrett Belanger, 19, was arrested Wednesday night and booked into the Hamilton County jail Thursday morning. He was charged with burglary, felony vandalism and theft.
The charges stem from a November 2 burglary case at Valley Memorial Church.
Police say Belanger broke into the church while wearing a Spider-man costume and busted video monitors, knocked holes in walls and destroyed a bathroom. They say he also stole $1000 worth of musical equipment.
Belanger was reportedly busted after posted several incriminating photos of himself on Facebook then sending them to an ex-girlfriend. According to the arrest report, Belanger showed several photos of the damage and himself inside the church. The report also says he not only bragged about the crime but planned to hit another church.
A judge set his bond at $75,000.
