Lookouts Comeback Falls Short in 5-4 Loss to Pensacola

(lookouts.com) The Chattanooga Lookouts could not overcome an early five run deficit in 5-4 loss against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos.

Pensacola piled on the runs early, netting one in the first and three in the second. They tacked another in the fifth to increase their lead to five. For the Lookouts, opener Paco Rodriguez allowed three runs in the first and was followed by Sean Poppen. Poppen allowed two runs, but settled into a grove. The righty ended up pitching seven innings with seven strikeouts and only one walk. He has now lowered his ERA to 3.95 on the season.

Down five runs the Lookouts began to put together a rally in the bottom of the sixth inning. Shortstop Luis Arraez led off the inning with a walk and the team proceeded to load the bases on singles by Chris Paul and Mitchell KransonJaylin Davis then cleared the bases on a double to bring the team within two runs.

Chattanooga’s last chance came in the bottom of the ninth inning. With two outs Brent Rookersingled and went to third on a single by Arraez. The left fielder was driven home on a Chris Paul double. After an intentional walk to Mitchell Kranson, Jaylin Davis struck out to end the game.

Tomorrow, is game four of the series featuring Dietrich Enns against Daniel Wright. Game is set for 7:15 p.m.
