Polk County investigates credit card skimmer

BENTON, Tennessee (WDEF) – Polk County authorities are investigating the case of a credit card skimmer found at a gas pump in Ducktown.

A daily check of the gas pumps by employees revealed the skimmer.

If you used Pump 2 at the Circle K in Ducktown on Tuesday or early Wednesday, keep tabs on your Debit and or Credit Card accounts.

If you see any suspicious activity on them, report it to your bank and call the Ducktown Sheriff’s Office at 423-496-3301.

This isn’t the only case now in the area.

The Sheriff reports that several stores in surrounding counties have also been hit with skimmers.

A skimmer records your card’s information.

The Sheriff’s Department warns gas purchasers to always check to see if the seal is broken on the lock door for the credit card scanner on the pump.  Or pay inside.
