City leaders spend a morning with Head Start kids
CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – During Mayor Andy Berke’s 2018 state of the city address he announced a goal of adding 1,000 early learning seats.
This morning Mayor Berke and City Council men toured the Avondale Head Start Center. All 3 men got a chance to play with the kids and said they had a blast this morning but might need a nap..
Mayor Berke said “Now that I have had so much fun I’m going to go take a nap, even though its only like 11 in the morning when we do this interview, because those kids exhaust me.”
Councilman Erskine Oglesby said “Listening to the joy that they have they have there interaction with each other how intelligent they are how articulate they are.”
Councilman Anthony Byrd told us “Just seeing the love that they have and the innocence of a child is just amazing and just seeing how they was just so eager to hear about us.”
The mayor and city council member visited 2 classrooms this morning and donated a book to both classes.
