Student files lawsuit over Valedictorian issue at Grundy High

COALMONT, Tennessee (WDEF) – A former Grundy County High School student has filed a one million dollar lawsuit against the Sheriff’s office and the Grundy County Schools.

According to the Grundy County Herald, Trevor Sanders says in the suit that he was falsely arrested and jailed for questioning the school policy of naming a 3-year graduate valedictorian.

Schools leaders maintained he was harassing the female student who was chosen for the honor.

The district later named 11 valedictorians for the year and charges against Sanders were dropped.

Sheriff Clint Schrum says his office has not yet been served in that suit.
