A year of war, JEM sends aid to Ukraine
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Following the one-year anniversary of the war between Ukraine and Russia, the Jewish End-Time Ministries (JEM) is planning a mission trip.
Henry Benach, founder of JEM, and his wife helped refugees in Poland at the start of the war, and are headed to Ukraine in March.
“What we’re going to do now is go back there in just a few weeks. And we’re going to help deliver a truck of wheat and some wood-fired bread ovens to help feed the people, make bread, and also share the gospel with them as well,” Henry Benach said.
The call to help for Henry was deeply personal. His wife, Victoria, is native to Ukraine and still has family within the borders. Victoria believes this war will determine the future for generations to come.
“The generation that lives now, the young generation, the kids, their lives change forever,” Victoria Benach said. “They will never be the same. This is war. Kids, they know how to fight sometimes, they know how to make Cocktail Molotov. Their childhood was stolen from them, some of them gone…forever.”
Her hope for Ukraine is still strong, but she knows the path will not be easy.
“We believe that Ukraine will be free as a country, as a nation,” Victoria continued. “And the people will freely live there, speak freely, the beautiful Ukrainian language. Live freely on beautiful land and enjoy their lives there. But we know it will be not easy. It costs a lot. It costs lives, people’s lives.”
The war is a year old and possibly far from over. The Benachs urge everyone to keep supporting those in need.
“I just want to encourage the people that live in this community and live in this area to support the cause for the Ukrainian people. There are so many needs that people don’t realize there are,” Henry Benach said. “Certainly, if someone wanted to be involved in helping us, they could get in touch with us. And we’ll send humanitarian aid, we’ll take humanitarian aid and do everything. But I’m just praying that, with the war already being a year old, that people don’t lose hope, and continue to help and support Ukraine. ”
