CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Abba’s House in Hixson launched a food pantry Tuesday morning.

It was held on their campus next to the main sanctuary.

Organizers say Pastor Ronnie Phillips and other staff have been working on launching this pantry for 8 months.

Their goal this morning was to feed at least 400 people in need in our area.

There were also other support services this morning such as Goodwill and the Chattanooga Housing Authority on hand.

The Pastor for Outreach and Community Liaison for Abba’s House, Theresa Biggs, said, “This is my heart, it’s been a dream just to love on people where they are. So many people are hurting and broken. Groceries are expensive, gas is expensive, and honestly this is something we’ve been dreaming of for a very long time.”

The pantry will be open every second Tuesday of the month from 9:30 to 11:30 a-m.

They do ask that only one person from each family comes to pick up supplies.

They are taking both monetary and food donations for the pantry.
