Accelerated Bachelor’s Program for Hamilton County Students

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF)- Blue Cross Blue Shield and East Tennessee State University is offering Hamilton County students a fast track bachelor’s degree in computing.

Blue Cross will provide their Chattanooga headquarters for classroom settings.

Labelled the The Blue Sky Tennessee institute, the program says there is a shortage of information systems and cybersecurity professionals.

The accelerated hands-on program will take 24 to 27 months to complete.

“We’re hoping to make this as close to free as possible for qualifying students” said Executive Director of the Blue Sky Institute Bradley Leon. “The students that we’re looking for for this initial cohort are low income students from Hamilton County and we’re going to try and fill the cohort for low income students from Hamilton County who come from disadvantaged backgrounds. Low income backgrounds.”

The first semester will begin in the summer of 2022.
