Actor Samuel L. Jackson addresses media about the terror attack on Chattanooga
Hollywood actor Samuel L. Jackson was asked to emcee the event and he didn’t disappoint.
Moments before Jackson took the stage in front of a crowd of thousands, he spoke to reporters about the moment he opened up a newspaper and read about the domestic terror attack on the city where he grew up.
"I was on vacation in the Mediterranean. When I read it I felt violated. I’m sure the majority of the people in this city the same way. I was just amazed and shocked that it could happen in a place I call home," Jackson said.
The Hollywood A-list star admitted he doesn’t come back to Chattanooga that often, but says he feels as if he’s still a part of the community; a community that took a major hit when Mohammad Abdulazeez went on a deadly shooting rampage at two military locations.
"My roots are here. The fabric of who I am was formed here and I have a deep feeling of love and joy when I think about Chattanooga. It’s important that I come back and help the people heal whatever way I can," Jackson said.
Jackson feels the best way to help Chattanooga is to make sure it’s citizens have something positive to look forward to.
"Through resilience and determination, we will come out of this a stronger group of people who are better able to handle situations; and to let the world know that we’re still here and we’re still thriving and we won’t let this be a deterrent," Jackson said.
