Advocates Demand Advanced Car Technology to Prevent Tragic Heatstroke Accidents
With summer in full swing, it’s important to remember that car interiors can become dangerously hot in just minutes.
In response, Kids and Car Safety is at the forefront of pushing for the immediate implementation of occupant detection technology in all new vehicles.
“Kids in cars have been working on this issue for 30 years, we maintain a national database on hot car tragedies and the average number of deaths in the United States is almost 40 children,” said Director of Kids and Car Safety Amber Collins.
This technology, which can identify when a passenger is left in a car and send alerts to drivers, has the potential to save countless lives. Yet, despite its proven effectiveness, widespread adoption is still in progress.
Even flow the car seat manufacturer, has this feature in their car seats called sensor safe and you notice when I click this buckle this red light will flash and this connects via Bluetooth to an app on your smartphone, and if you walk away from your vehicle you’re going to get a notification and your phone will start saying child in the car” said Collins.
