Alleged extreme form of traffic control sends East Ridge man to jail
EAST RIDGE, Tennessee (WDEF) – An East Ridge man was so passionate about people speeding down his block that police say he went through an extreme measure to slow down traffic, and now he’s in jail facing two counts of aggravated assault.
According to an arrest affidavit obtained by News 12, Robert Black, 25, of East Ridge pulled a gun on two people because they attempted move a tree branch out of the roadway.
It happened in the 3400 block of Bennett Road.
The alleged victims told police that Black pulled a gun on them after they tried to remove a branch in the roadway that was causing motorist to slow down and go around it.
They said Black was on his front porch when he first yelled at them not to remove the branch.
According to police, it was after the verbal warning that Black walked from his porch and pulled a gun on them.
He reportedly told the two motorist the branch was on the ground because people were driving too fast on the road.
After Black was taken into custody, police located his loaded weapon inside his house.
