Almost every state had historic jobless claims in April

Almost every U.S. state had record-breaking unemployment in April. That’s according to new analysis from the Washington Post.

The paper reviewed data the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics released Friday.

The bureau says the jobless rate rose month over month and year over year in every state. That’s producing the highest national unemployment rate since the Great Depression.

The Post reports the figures amount to new unemployment records in 43 states.
