Alton Park community market opens

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- Saturday and Sunday’s are great market day’s here in the Tennessee Valley.

The Alton Park Community Market held it’s Grand Opening Saturday.

The market will be located at the Beth.

Every weekend local vendors will sell items like plants, fresh produce and lemonade for the community.

The market manager says that this is a great way to bridge the gap when it comes to food and groceries in the Alton Park area.

“We want to be able to provide healthier produce and we want to bring awareness about what you can do with the produce, ways you can cook it, ways to eat healthier and lower blood sugar, diabetes and stuff like that. Here at the community center, we want to be engaged with the community. We want the community to be engaged with us. We want to provide a platform for people to be able to get along and just to be here, have a good time and have fun”, says market manager Everitt Parker.

The market will open every Saturday until December.
