American Legion Post Donates to Local School

Chattanooga, TN (WDEF) – American Legion Post 0291 donated $1,300 to Orchard Knob Elementary School to help them stock their care closet. The American Legion recently adopted the school after learning that some students were in need of clothing, school supplies, and food assistance. The group hoped to raise two hundred dollars for their donation, but what they received far exceeded their expectations.

Tommy Mitchell from the American Legion said, “I had put it out that we needed a two hundred dollar donation to give to the school. But then I was overwhelmed with emotion when we came up with the thirteen hundred dollars. It really was something special that day, in the immediate. So that’s why we’re here today, just to make that donation to them for their care closet.”

The local branch of the American Legion currently does not have an official post. If there is anyone with property that may suit their needs, they encourage the property owners to reach out.
