Apison garbage truck load catches fire from hoverboard

APISON, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department (TCVFD) responded to a garbage truck fire that sparked from a hoverboard.

TCVFD posted on Facebook that they responded to a garbage truck fire on Upland Drive.

When crews arrived, they dumped the garage truck’s contents out to try and locate the source.

While getting contents out of the garbage truck, firefighters discovered the hoverboard smouldering.

Firefighters proceeded to extinguish the hoverboard.

TCVFD want to take this opportunity and remind the community that although batteries may not put power to your devices, they still contain a “residual charge”.
