Apple Tree Planted in Honor of Student who Passed Away

Family, faculty, and students at Blue Ridge Elementary School in Dalton planting an apple tree Tuesday afternoon in honor of Baldemar Trejo, a third grader who passed away in early May.
DALTON, Ga. (WDEF)- Blue Ridge Elementary School in Dalton honored a fallen student today.
Dalton Public Schools say Baldemar Trejo was killed in a car accident earlier this month.
He was only 8 years old and would have turned 9 on Memorial Day.
Trejo was a third grade student at Blue Ridge Elementary and loved gardening, a love his teachers say he gained from his mother.
Today his family, joined by students and faculty at the school, planted an apple tree in his honor, as he will have a permanent place in the school’s garden.
Emily Moore, who taught Trejo at Blue Ridge Elementary for three years, said, “I think that everyone at this school knew who Baldemar was even people who didn’t get to work with him, and everyone wants to have something to remember someone they loved by, and when you think about a garden you think about peace and serenity, and just being able to come out here and visit that, and remember him for years to come. As the tree gets bigger, it will always be there for us to go visit him.”
Moore added that Trejo was one of the most impactful students she had ever worked with and that he was very lively, energetic, fun-loving, and made everyone smile.
