Applications open for Chattanooga Police Academy

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Chattanooga Police Department now hiring for March 2018 academy.

CPD says they are actively seeking qualified applicants to train as police officers.

The application process lasts about 6 months and applicants must pass all tests in order to successfully qualify for the academy.

Tennessee State Law and Chattanooga City Ordinances have set basic requirements for police officers. These include:

  • Be at least 21 and less than 40 at graduation.
  • Have a high school diploma or GED.
  • Be a United States citizen.
  • Be free of any felony or serious misdemeanor convictions.
  • Be a Tennessee resident and have a valid driver’s license.
  • If applicable, honorable military discharge.
