Arrest made in connection to bomb threat on Apison Pike

UPDATE (12/13/2024):  The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) has released new details on the bomb threat on Apison Pike.

HCSO announced that the suspect who was arrested was a juvenile.

The School Resource Deputy (SRD) at Ooltewah High School was contacted by a student who claimed another students told them he had explosives in a briefcase on the bus.

HCSO was able to make contact with the bus and the bus was able to pull into the tractor supply parking lot.

According to HCSO, the SRD arrived on scene and was able to identify the student who made these claims.

The student was immediately taken into custody.

HCSO’s CBRNE (Chemical, Biological, Radioactive, Nuclear, and Explosives) crew responded to the scene and was able to confirm no explosives were in the brief case.

The suspect was taken to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with Threat of Mass Violence on school property or school-related activity, and False Reports.


COLLEGEDALE, Tenn. (WDEF) —  The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) responded to a bomb threat on Apison Pike.

Deputies were dispatched to 9408 Apison Pike regarding a potential bomb threat involving a school bus.

The bus was parked in the Tractor Supply parking lot.

All students were evacuated safely off the bus.

According to HCSO, the public in the immediate area including businesses, have been either evacuated or told to shelter in place.

Several roads in the immediate area have been temporarily closed so that responding vehicles can make their way to the scene.

HCSO is advising the public to avoid the area until they complete an investigation.
